EZUV can be installed in nearly any HVAC system. The installation diagram shows some options when placed for the disinfection of an A-type cooling coil. You contractor will advise on which set-up is best for you. Lamps are often positioned to disinfect the HVAC blower and drain pan areas in addition to the coil.

Why add UV lights to my HVAC system?

UV lights create healthier air through natural disinfection with no by-products

Healthier air for home or office: Ultravation UV lights installed in your HVAC system will kill harmful airborne bacteria, viruses and allergens in the air circulating through HVAC duct work as well as on HVAC surfaces such as the coil, drain pan and blower, keeping microbial infestation from growing and releasing offspring (allergens) into the air distributed to occupied spaces.

UV is a natural, environmentally friendly method for disinfection that involves no chemicals and creates no by products. Its germicidal characteristics were recognized and put to use as early as 1904 in some medical applications. Since the 1930s, it has been used for the disinfection of air, water and surfaces in many industries, ranging from food to pharmaceuticals, water and even wastewater treatment. Today, the benefits of UV are being applied to indoor air quality improvement to create healthier, fresher, more allergen-free indoor air. In fact, UV-C light is the only air disinfection technology recognized as effective by ASHRAE (the American Society of Heating, Refrigerating and Air-Conditioning Engineers).

Silent, non-intrusive and safe to use: Installs inside the HVAC system for whole house coverage, with no noisy, intrusive appliances taking up space, and the germicidal UV light does its job inside the HVAC system, without injecting any chemicals or other substances into the air.

Some examples of applications include:

• Homes
• Offices
• Schools
• Industry

• Restaurants
• Medical facilities
• Pet centers
• Cruise ships

• Hotels
• Military
• Bus stations
• Retail shops

UV lights are likely to save more energy than they consume

Dirty HVAC coil

BEFORE: Normally wet HVAC cooling coils (above) are an ideal breeding ground for bio-growth that clogs air flow, releases spores (allergens) and reduces HVAC efficiency (which wastes energy!).

Clean UV treated coil

WITH UV-C LIGHT: Bio-growth is prevented, airborne bacteria and viruses are killed and cooling efficiency is optimized.

Over time, bio-growth infests wet coGreen homeoling coils as they remove moisture from the air. Even a thin bio-film on cooling coil measuring a few thousandths of an inch fins acts as an insulator, cutting HVAC efficiency by 40% to 50%. This means HVAC system has to work harder (longer) to cool or heat the air, wasting energy. UV prevents this from happening.

Bio-growth inside an HVAC system can release spores and other allergens into the air stream and on to occupied spaces.

UV-C light stops HVAC surface bio-growth which continually keeps HVAC cooling efficiency optimized. This saves significant energy, and in fact, the UV system can pay for itself over time through lowered electric bills.

Ultravation’s innovative T3™ UV-C lamp system provides up to 40% more UV and a lamp life of up to 2 years!

T3 optimized Ultraviolet icon

For maximum performance at the lowest cost, Ultravation developed the T3™ UV lamp system to provide up to 40% higher intensity UV-C output without increased energy consumption doubling typical UV lamp life to 18,000 hrs! The patented T3™ UV lamp design optimizes UV output of the lamp through thermal stabilization.

Independent tests confirm the performance of Ultravation UV lights

Independent Testing: Bacteria, viruses and other airborne biologicals are drawn into HVAC circulation and pass through filtration. An Ultravation UV light not only prevents HVAC infestation it will destroy harmful microorganisms in the airstream as they pass through the UV light. Independent tests of Ultravation UV disinfection products show that microbes can be killed in as little as two-seconds of exposure. See pathogen reduction graph.
